How to sell online in Pakistan

Most listings that fail in Pakistan fail for the same three reasons: dark photos, a price nobody believes, and a seller who answers a day late. None of them cost money to fix. This guide is the short version of what separates a listing that sells in a week from one that sits for two months.

Photograph in daylight, not under a bulb

Take photos outside or near a window, in the morning or late afternoon. Shoot the item from the front, both sides, the back, and close-ups of anything a buyer would ask about — including the flaws. A listing that hides the scratch gets messages asking about the scratch; a listing that shows it gets offers.

Write the title the way people search

Put the exact make, model, variant and year in the title. "Honda Civic 1.8 Oriel 2019" finds buyers. "Car for sale urgent" does not. If your item has a model number, include it — that is literally what people type.

Fixed price or auction?

Use a fixed price when you know what the item is worth and want a quiet sale. Use an auction when the value is uncertain, when demand is high, or when you want to sell fast — a deadline creates urgency that an open-ended listing never will. Vehicles, phones, antiques and anything collectible usually do better at auction.

Price against what actually sold

Ask-prices on other listings tell you what sellers hope for. Look instead at what comparable items sold for. Price slightly under the nearest comparable and you will usually sell faster and, after weeks of no interest, for more than you would have got by starting high.

Answer fast

Reply within the hour if you can. Buyers in this market message several sellers at once and commit to whoever responds first. A verified WhatsApp number on your listing removes a step and measurably increases replies.

Handling Cash on Delivery safely

Meet in a public place for anything valuable. Let the buyer inspect before money changes hands — that is the point of COD and it prevents most disputes. Never share an OTP with anyone, for any reason. If a buyer pressures you to move the conversation off-platform before agreeing anything, treat it as a warning sign.

Use video

A short clip of the item working — engine running, phone powering on, machine cutting — answers more questions than ten photos and pushes your listing higher in the feed. Twenty seconds is enough.

Common questions

Is it free to list on Nilamiwala?

Yes. Listing and browsing are free. Sellers pay a small commission only when a sale completes: 1% on vehicles and property, 4% on small items, 2.5% on everything else. No sale, no fee.

Should I use an auction or a fixed price?

Auction when the value is uncertain or demand is high — the deadline creates urgency. Fixed price when you already know the market value and want a straightforward sale.

How do I avoid time-wasters?

Post clear photos including flaws, state the price plainly, and answer quickly. Most time-wasting comes from listings that leave obvious questions unanswered.

Do I need to verify my account to sell?

Yes — a verified email is required to list or bid. It is a one-time six-digit code, and it is what keeps fake accounts off the platform.
